Landscape Design Overview:
The Weldon Springs Site is the former location of a large manufacturing plant that produced conventional munitions and nuclear materials for the U.S. government.
After a long and costly cleanup process by the U.S. Department of Energy, the site was opened to the public as an educational and recreational resource. In addition to learning about the site's former uses and subsequent cleanup, visitors will also be able to learn about the native plants and landscapes of the area.
Austin Tao & Associates prepared construction documents, specifications and cost estimates for planting, grading and for the native plant education component of the site. Visitors will have a chance to learn about individual plants as well as landscape types such as prairie, savanna, and wetland, which are represented in the design.
The related document shows the overall project design.
