This summer standout is easily grown in average, medium moisture soils in full sun to part shade. Joe Pye naturally occur in low moist ground, in wet meadows and thickets and along stream margins. Plants prefer gardens with moist, rich soils. It is an erect, clump-forming perennial which typically grows tall with coarse dark green foliage.
